JdF Preparations

• Parts for wand and temperature sensor are either ordered or have arrived.  Build and design of wand continues.  Temp probe tips have arrived and have been pressure-tested.
• encoder in HPP seems to have failed (again).  Either because oil gets on it or some unknown electrical issue.  Scott working on this problem.
• Doug awaiting new nuts that relieve us of having to use special torque wrench to get to recommended torque when closing DWSM for high-pressure testing.  These should arrive tomorrow or Monday.  Then high-pressure testing should commence (if HPP fixed).
• Bill has a straw man crew list for JdF here

 Adaptive Sampling and M0 Deployment  (MOE)

• Ran 1st integrated run yesterday; water very stinky and PCR was inhibited, but mechanically ran fine.  Array was good.  Starting 2nd sample tonight.  We want 3 good runs in a row to say it passes qualification.
• Will set up MOE with ISUS and CTD to begin lab testing of adaptive sampling on Monday.  John R. taking care of the ISUS cleaning/preparation.
• Brent to receive Yanwu's code on Friday and might work on over weekend to get it into 'ESP-speak'
• Deployment has been moved UP to March 31.  Although this makes for slightly longer deployment we thing no problem with power and # of samples.
• We are using the 'air-battery' containers for this deployment (not orange boxes).  Almost finished, but must check who is making brackets for mounting these.

WHOI Deployment

•  Currently we have 3 E/M cables.  in meters: 15a, 15b and 20.  The 20m did not ohm, and we found water and corrosion in one connector.  That has been cleaned and 'resealed' with lots of silicone grease.  15b passed the ohm test, but showed some funky readings (i.e., not perfect).  15a works, and debate was whether to pull it apart.  Decision was yes, pull, inspect, and grease.  We will use this shortest cable (15a) for WHOI since there's lots of activity in the area of the mooring (lobster pots).
• WHOI to provide their own batteries, but we should test their polarities.  Also make sure they have an interface cable if we're doing a hot-swap.
• Brent heading to WHOI on March 27.  2 days setting up shore-station, and 3 days assisting EOM/McLane in getting ESP to talk up their gumby.
• Roman working with Doug to see if we can rent a He leak detector while at WHOI.
• Various shipping options are being explored with the help of Teresa Cardoza.
• Kevin Gomes will meet with Chris P, Roman, and Elif to discuss the latest incarnation of the mission planning software.

G3 Development

• We will have a G3 meeting next Tuesday at the normal ESP Science meeting to discuss some discussions that Doug/Scott have had.
